Musical Alchemy

Electric Light Orchestra was born of “a desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones”.  I think they hit the nail on the head.  And it goes to show, I think, how all music is essentially the same.  Several groups since have shown how nicely classical instruments and techniques work in modern music.   Personally, I view the entire Metal genre as “classical music electrified”.  We tend to think that each genre is its own thing, but it’s really not.  Apples of different colors may look and taste differently from one another, but they’re still apples.  Looking at examples, like ELO, we get a taste of what something like a Granny Smith and Honeycrisp might be like when baked into the same pie.  It doesn’t matter if it’s old time Pops, or modern Pop.  Hip Hop or Punk Rock.  Middle Eastern Folk music, or American Country and Western.  It’s all the same fruit.  And, even if you don’t like the green ones, there’s still something there for you that can not only be found in, but also blended with, other music.  Music you might be listening to right now and never noticed it had the flavor of one of those green apples that you keep saying you don’t like mixed in.  Unless you don’t like apples.  In that case, you might be in the wrong place.

And if you need more examples of how other genres can be mixed, maybe take a look at our album!  You can buy or stream it.  Or come out to a show and hear us play it (and more) live.  Wanna shirt?
