He didn’t invent the three finger picking style for banjo, but he popularized it to the point that it’s now known as “Scruggs Style”. Earl Scruggs started off playing with the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. Later, he and fellow band member Lester Flatt left and formed their own band, which they called Flatt and Scruggs. They had a whole bunch of hits, and even performed the theme for a popular TV show. I’ve been a fan for a long time and always love to listen to Scruggs play. Here’s one of my favorites.
