Does it sound like the recording?

I remember when I was a little kid, Steve Miller Band came on the TV and I didn’t recognize it.  I thought I recognized the song, though.  I asked my parents who it was and they told me it’s one of the songs we’d been hearing on the radio a lot recently.  Oh, yeah!  Why did it sound different?  Well, he wasn’t singing it the way he sung it when he recorded it.  Different vocal phrasings.  At the time, I found it a bit off.  But now, I understand.  These guys might perform the same song hundreds of times a year.  Every now and then, maybe they want to add some spice.  I add some spice myself sometimes.  Or maybe, like some others, he always sings differently live than he does when recording.  Geddy Lee is one that stands out in my mind, but don’t ask Google about it because there aren’t any results about it that I could find.  Maybe it’s all in my mind.

I don’t know.  I’ve never seen Steve Miller live, so it could have just been that once.  And I’m not really interested enough to find out, even though here I am writing about it.  All I know is that his hits are feel good music, and almost everybody I meet loves them.  Anyway, here’s one of my favorites:
