He was given a mandolin by his father at age 5, which he played on stage with the legendary Bill Monroe at age 6. By age 7, he was featured on television’s Martha White Country Music Variety Show where he played with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. I’m talking about, of course, Ricky Skaggs. County Music Hall of Famer, Musicians Hall of Famer, and 2021 National Medal of Arts recipient, Skaggs has made quite the impact on many musicians, including Lost Riders! In fact, we had the pleasure of seeing him perform some years ago as part of McNeese State University's Banners Series.
