If you’ve come to our shows, or listened to our music, it probably didn’t take you long to figure out that we like The Blues. Today we’re talking about Son Seals. He began performing professionally by the age of 13, as a drummer and guitarist. Then at age 16, he began to play at a local club with his brother-in-law. There he played with other prominent Blues artists like Albert King, Rufus Thomas, Bobby Bland, Junior Parker, and Rosco Gordon. While at that club, he was also introduced to country-western music by Jimmy Grubbs, who occasionally asked Seals to play the drums or guitar with his group. In 1971, Seals moved to Chicago and was discovered by Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records at the Flamingo Club on Chicago's South Side. From there, his career took off. Here’s one off his 1976 album Midnight Son.
