Here’s another British band that got a start in the 60s. They are so ingrained in popular culture that everybody knows their songs, even if you don’t know them. Their influence is cited all over the musical spectrum. "You Really Got Me" has been described as "a blueprint song in the hard rock and heavy metal arsenal", and as an influence on the approach of some American garage rock bands. They have often been labelled as "the original punks".
