The Artist (FKAP)

Widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation, Prince had a wide vocal range and played almost all the instruments himself on his recording.  He pioneered the Minneapolis Sound, incorporating a wide variety of styles, including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, and soul, synth-pop, pop, jazz, and hip hop.  Prince's "Little Red Corvette" was one of the first two videos by black artists (along with Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean") played in heavy rotation on MTV, which had been perceived as against “black music” until CBS President Walter Yetnikoff threatened to pull all CBS videos.
