I discovered Wayne “The Train” Hancock some years back after some friends of mine, who had a band, happened upon the good luck of being able to open for him. I didn't make it, but they told me about him and I went and listened to his music and loved it. I myself, once upon a time, was scheduled to open for him with another band, but some kind of double booking (or perhaps misinformation from the people booking us) lead to that not happening. I was disappointed because, by that time, I was a big fan. I did eventually end up getting to meet him briefly at a classic car show in TX. He was very gracious and kind and it was nice to get to talk to him for a bit. Later, he put on a great show.
