Buck Owens and His Buckaroos had 21 Number 1 hits. Owens pioneered what’s known as the “Bakersfield Sound”, which he preferred to call “American Music”. You might have noticed, that’s what we call our music too. And actually I didn’t even know he did this until I started researching for today’s post. I knew we were onto something, lol! Owens also hosted the show Hee Haw with Roy Clark, which I watched all the time as a kid. He also had some collaboration with Dwight Yoakam in 1988. In the biography about Owens, Rich Kienzle writes: "'Buck' was a donkey on the Owens farm." "When Alvis Jr. was three or four years old, he walked into the house and announced that his name also was "Buck." (Alvis Jr. Is Owen's given name.)
