Roky Erickson got famous as a pioneer of psychedelic rock in the 60s, as the leader of The 13th Floor Elevators. You should check them out sometime. Erickson has a very interesting back story, and I’d encourage you to dive in. The title of this post shares the name of one of the first songs Erickson wrote as a teenager. His first band, The Spades, recorded the original version of "You're Gonna Miss Me", and it was later a hit for the 13th Floor Elevators. Today, we’re focusing on a period later in his career. His 1981 solo album “The Evil One” is one of those records where every track is a great one. Check it out sometime! Here’s one of my favorites:
